Three

Despite the fear I had when I saw the image of Jason, my fear was overcome by my curiosity to know more about this. Something tells me that Pasha knows a lot about it and he wanted me to find out myself. I hate that, not knowing what is actually happening, drives me crazy.
When we finally reached the forest, we had to ditch my car and walk into that deep dark forest. Every step I took made my heart beat faster, adrenaline rushed through my vein and I was shaking. Not because of the cold weather in this damp forest, it was my own fear. Question began to pile up in my little brain. Is Pasha a vampire too? Is he bringing me here a trick? Is it a trick for him to get a chance to pierce his fangs into my neck? I shuddered after the thought of it.
Pasha turned to me after I had shudder, he looked at me like he knew what I had thought of. He shook his head and he open his mouth to tell me something but he acted like he was yawning and took of his long black coat and threw it at me. I blinked for a moment, realizing I had misjudged him; I nodded at him and wore the coat. It was really warm with a beautiful smell of cologne, it smelled like cinnamon and wood.
I suspected that this would be a long walk so I couldn’t help but want to beat the silence of. ‘You wear cologne?’ I asked. He looked at me like I was joking and turn back to the front.
‘No, I don’t.’ He said.
‘But this scent on your coat……’ I hesitated. ‘You don’t have to be embarrassed about it. I won’t call you a sissy.’
‘I wasn’t lying, I don’t wear cologne and even if I do, I wouldn’t lie. What’s wrong with wearing cologne? I mean I do wear it but only when there is function or some dinner party.’ He said.
‘Wow, you’re a womanizer.’ I laughed. He chuckled and turned back to me with a smile that I couldn’t help but fell in love with it.
‘You can say that. You liked it when I wore cologne.’ He replied.
‘What do you mean by ‘liked’?’ I asked.
He didn’t reply and continue to walk. There goes for me making conversation. But even we had continued the conversation it wouldn’t last long either. We arrived to the scene right after that. Blood was all over the place, five bodies were lying on the ground, and two were women. All of them look so young like they were at their mid-twenties. Then, I realize this was a camp side. Jason must have stumble over them by accident and…… Those words couldn’t make it out and I had swallowed it.
Then, there he was, with his beautiful blonde hair covered with blood and he was sitting on the ground, shaking. Slowly, he look up and saw me, he stood up and was coming towards me until he saw Pasha. He flinched and was going to flee.
‘Stop moving!’ Pasha said. Jason’s body no longer able to move, like a statue he stood there, and he was trying to run but he was unable to. ‘Kneel!’ Pasha said again and Jason fell to the ground. With shock I looked at both of them, both amaze and filled with fear.
‘Alice! Run!’ Jason shouted. ‘He is going to kill you! Run!’ He repeated.
‘What are you talking about? He brought me here to help you.’
‘No! He was the one which change me into this monster! Run! Please, I begged you, Alice, run!’ He begged me.
I shuddered and look back at Pasha but he did not move. Immediately, I ran. I could hear Pasha’s voice ‘Stay!’ He said. I thought I was going to turn back but I didn’t, I look back and saw Jason unable to move and Pasha was nowhere to be found. I turn back to the front and he was right in front of me. He held me on my shoulders and I kicked his leg hard, he fell to his knee and I continue to run. My heart was pumping so hard I could barely breathe. Then, suddenly, a tall man stood before me, it was like that dream I had, it was him. He looked at me shocked and surprise. He held onto me with eyes filled with worries. All I could do was stare, he was so perfect, like an angel.
Suddenly, I could hear a voice whisper in my ears, Dimitri. That was his name, I looked up at him and tears flows down. I hugged him as I was still shaking and he pushed me out to get to look me in the eyes.
‘What’s wrong? Why are you crying?’ He asked.
‘Dimitri! Please! Jason……. Pasha, he……’ Words couldn’t come out of my mouth but his gaze told me that he knew what I was talking about.
‘Pasha Zeklov?’ He asked. I nodded. ‘Wait here.’ He said. In a flash, he disappeared. He was like Pasha, fast, he…… he is a vampire too.
I couldn’t understand myself for that moment, why I was so afraid wait I was with Pasha, whom was a vampire too but not with Dimitri? It felt save when I saw Dimitri like nothing in the world matters.
Suddenly, Pasha dashed towards me. I flinched and was going to run but he held onto me. ‘No…… no……. don’t run! Please! Let me explain.’ My fear was no longer there, all of the sudden I was filled with anger. I gazed at him with rage. ‘Please, Alice, Jason wasn’t supposed to be with you! I am…… our parents had arranged us for our marriage.’ He said.
‘My parents are gone! They disappeared 10 years ago! And don’t tell me who I should be with! I know it myself!’ I said.
‘No, you don’t! 20 years ago you made a mistake for choosing him, don’t make that mistake again! You’re a royal! You’re supposed to be with another royal! Not with that half-blood trash! And certainly not with that human!’ He said
‘What are you talking about? Stop forcing me to believe your lies! 20 years ago I wasn’t even born yet!’ I said.
‘No! You’re……’ Before he could finish, Dimitri pushed him away and pulled me back and stood between us.
‘Pasha, get hold of yourself! This is not the time!’ Dimitri said.
‘Not the time! Tell me about it! You wanted her for yourself so you just kick me away and told me she died in the accident!’ Dimitri didn’t say anything. ‘I knew it! Now, let her come back to me!’ He said.
‘You’re scaring her right now! She doesn’t remember anything, right now. You can’t force her to love you; you certainly can’t force her to go with you! You wouldn’t want to trigger her true self, do you?’ Dimitri said, firmly. I looked at both of them with blank eyes, not knowing what exactly is happening right now.
‘I would rather let trigger that part of her! I can’t wait anymore! I’ve waited for 10 years! All for a second chance!’ He said.
‘And you’re blowing it! If you do that to her now, she’ll hate you!’ Dimitri said again.
All of the sudden, Pasha fell to the ground eyes filled with sadness, but Dimitri just turn towards me and held my face. ‘Go to sleep.’ He said. For that moment, I felt so tired; all I wanted was to close my eyes and sleep. And it happened, everything became blurry and then it was a complete darkness. I felt Dimitri’s arm held onto me and everything else was a blur.
As I open my eyes again, I could hear people shouting, arguing in Russian, then, in French. So many people were speaking at once I can’t point out who was who. All of the sudden, I could hear that gentle voice spoke in Russian. Somehow, I knew that was Dimitri. His voice was calm and assertive, which was why I like it so much. Happily, I opened my eyes. There he was, standing with that tall beautiful dark brown hair girl that looks so much like Dimitri. She walks towards my bedside and I realize she was one of them, a vampire.
‘Hi, Alice.’ Karolina said. ‘My real name is Karolina Kevorkov. I am the older sister of Dimitri.’
